Business Meeting Minutes April 19. 2017 Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Jeff Godshall called the meeting to order. The opening prayer was said and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Approval of minutes:

The minutes from the March meeting are posted on the council website. Motion made to approve, seconded and was passed.

Retention/Membership report: Committee chair and Grand Knight will be attending the Columbiettes meeting tomorrow night to recruit husbands of Columbiettes for the Knights.

Grand Knight report:

The council along with other parishioners and groups are funding a special account for Fr. Pat to assist those families with children who need financial help. The fund will be named for St. Philomena, the patron saint of infants, children and youth. 10% of each month’s poker night funds will be earmarked for this fund.

Directors' reports:

Culture of Life (Decker) - Thanks to those who helped with the parking on Easter Sunday. More volunteers will be needed this Saturday (Apr. 22) for the IFF. Offered copies of “The Joy of the Gospel” to those interested.

Family (Peters, S) - Knights of the Month are Andy Espisito and Doug Pearce.

New Business:

Next Pancake Breakfast will be held on May 7 (last one this year)

Golf tournament: Apr. 29 beginning at 8:30am at Olde Point Country Club in Hampstead. Brochures are available for sign up and to solicit sponsors. Two man teams in a scramble format with two flights. $80/person. More sponsors and players needed. Contact Jon Scarborough.

The Youth minister has asked us to cook for the youth group on May 21.

Family picnic in May is proposed to be held at Hugh McRae park. Details to follow.

Renting spaces in the far parking lot for a garage sale this summer.

Report of the Fourth Degree:

Scholarship to high school seniors is available. Contact Greg Decker for information.

District Deputy Report:

Fifth Sunday Rosary this month. State convention May 5-7. May 20 we are invited to St. Therese annual shrimparoo. Tickets go fast so buy soon.
