Business Meeting January 27, 2016 Knights of Columbus 12017

The Chancellor, Jeff Godshall, called the meeting to order and received a report from the Warden that all present were in possession of their membership cards.

The Opening Prayer was said and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Approval of Minutes:

  • The minutes from the December meeting are on the council website; no corrections were offered so approved without modification. Motion for approval was made by Jeff Godshall and seconded by Alex Santiago.

Grand Knight Report: (Chancellor Godshall acting as Grand Knight)

  • Paul Abbe was named Knight of the Month.
  • New LAMB Director needed.

Treasurer Report:

  • The Treasurer reported on the account balances.

Bills and Communications: 

  • None received. 

Financial Secretary Report:

  • None.

Report of Service Program Committees:

  • Mark Pahl called on the committees to provide reports.
  • Church:
    • Director, Steve Peters thanked the Car Directors. There were record crowds.
    • He reported that the Lenten Mission will be four nights, Feb. 29 thru March 3. The mission will be preached by Richard Lane.
    • The International Food Festival will be April 23. Planning is on the way. Knights needed to help with the festival. Handout given to sign up for committee members and sponsors for festival.
  • Council:
    • Steve Sheldon reported that the St. Patrick's Dance will be on March 12th. Volunteers needed from Knights and Columbiettees. Steve Peters will chair clean-up and Mark Pahl will chair food. Baby sitters to be provided.
    • Knights will handle two Fish Frys during Lent.
    • Ken Merck reported on Texas Hold'em.
    • First Degree here on April 27th.
  • Community:
    • George Schadt reported that the next breakfast will be Feb. 14th. St. Mark's School children will help out. Knight volunteers needed.
    • A motion was made by George to buy two new coffee urns: seconded by Greg Peters and passed.
    • George reported that volunteers were needed for the food tent at the International Food Festival.
    • He asked for a second-in-command for Parish Breakfasts. Check given to Youth Group from prior breakfast.
  • Family:
    • Mark Pahl reported that the Golf Outing will be on May 7th at Echo Farms.
  • Youth:
    • Paul Abbe reported that no Spanish Christmas Cards were needed.

LAMB Report:

  • Tim Niggel reported that $9,000 had been collected so far for LAMB.
  • The Polar Plunge will be Feb. 13th. He asked who would be there in order to order shirts.

Trustees Report:

  • No report. 

New Business:

  • Steve Sheldon reported that medals were needed for the Boy Scouts. He will get players for the Golf Tournament and asked if 50% of the fee for these players could be given back for the purchase of the medals.

Fourth Degree report:

  • The next Fourth degree meeting will be held at St. Terese at Wrightsville Beach.

Good of the Order:

  • Stephen Fabian gave a good talk on recruiting younger knights by holding such things as College Nights etc.
  • Prayers were offered for our fellow Knights, relatives and friends.
