Business Meeting Minutes March 21, 2018 of Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Godshall called the meeting to order.  The Warden reported all had membership card and rosary, the opening prayer was led by the Warden, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Chaplain report: No report. 

Approval of minutes:

The minutes from the February meeting are posted on the council website. Motion made to approve, seconded and was passed.

Retention/Membership report: No  report.

Chaplain's report: No report. 

Grand Knight report: 

  • Effective immediately Ron Probst is stepping down as Treasurer after serving for 5 years.  Interim treasurer is Sal Tascone.

  • Nominations for officers will be presented at the April meeting with the vote to be held at the May meeting.  Larry Greer, Tim Niggel and Steve Shelton are the nominating committee.  Please contact any of them to serve as an officer of this council.

  • Easter Parking volunteers are needed for the 9:30am and 11:30am Masses on April 1.  Contact Greg Decker if you can help.  Masses at those times will be held in the church and the activity center.

  • St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance was a success with approximately 300 people attending.  Final numbers are not in yet.

  • International Food Festival:  We are sponsoring an inflatable and will have a food booth possibly in conjunction with the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

  • Golf tournament on May 19 at the Muni beginning at 1:30pm.  Greg Decker has sent out letters to the other councils challenging them to put together a team to compete against each other.  Sponsors and players are still needed.   • Mark Pahl is offering to make a generous donation to the council to have knights spread mulch in his yard on April 14 beginning at 8:00am.  12-14 knights needed.  Contact Jeff Godshall to volunteer.

Bills and Communications: None. 

Treasurer’s report:  No report.

Financial Secretary’s report:  State raffle tickets are due back to Lee Wagner by April 5th.

Trustees report: No report. 

Director’s reports:

Culture of Life (Michael Breit): No report.

Church (Michael Breit for Greg Decker) - 

  • RSVP recipient David Miller Ordination to Deacon in on Saturday April 7 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh with a reception at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh.  Email Greg Decker This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Ignited By Truth Catholic Conference is April 28 in Raleigh.  The Saturday program includes five renowned speakers:  Dr. Scott Hahn, Fr. Robert Spitzer, Fr. Donald Calloway, Mark Hart, and Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.  Purchase tickets at IgnitedByTruth.org This year St. Mark and the Knights of Columbus are coordinating a bus to and from the conference.  It will leave St. Mark’s parking lot at 6:00am and leave the conference following the last talk.  We’ll return to St. Mark at 7:00pm.   • Attendance at Good Friday 3:00pm service is requested.  Adoration on Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm is encouraged.

Council -

  • Knight of the Month:  Sal Tascone for participating in the most knight'sctivities for the year.

  • Parish Breakfast:  Next breakfast is April 8 and the last breakfast for the year will be May 14.

LAMB (Niggel) -

  • $160 was collected at the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance.  We are setting up for our annual collection drive.  More information as it becomes available. Recipients of LAMB funds will be attending our May meeting. 

Old Business: Thoughts on acquiring a debit card for use during big events.  This will be brought up at our next executive board meeting.

New Business: None.

Report of the Fourth Degree: 

  • The assembly meetings are the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00pm at St. Mary's.

District Deputy Report:

  • The annual convention is May 5-6.

Good of the Order:

Prayers were offered for fellow Knights, relatives and friends. Specifically were named Ron Probst's recovery from surgery and for his nephew, Jeff; Sean Duncan's wife; Steve Agnelli's son, Daniel; Phil Conrad's wife, Ginny.
