Retention/Membership report: No  report.

Grand Knight report:

  • Regarding the parishioner whose home burned, the GK talked with Fr. Pat who suggested a donation in the $200-500 range.  A motion was made to provide an initial payment of $500 and later review if more help is needed. The motion passed.
  • The level of Knight activity during the month was talked about and will eb expounded upon in the director's reports.
  • The Yard Sale to support the St. Philomena fund is tentatively set for the Spring. Use of the back parking lot will need to be cleared with the school and church first.
  • recruiting is paying off with the Who Wants to be a Knight program. To keep the momentum, we'll have back-to-back 1st and 2nd degrees on January 27 from 10 to 2 with lunch served between degrees.
  • We're planning two Fish Frys during Lent (which begins February 14).  George will be seeking volunteers as the dates are set.
  • Also in the planning stages is a SuperBowl party with location TBD.
  • Larry Greer is heading the St. Patrick's Day dinner/dance and planning is well underway.
  • Lastly, moving our meeting night back to Thursday is still being considered though the third Thursday is about the busiest day as far as the facility goes. The driving reason for the move is to have meetings on the same night as the Columbiettes (who cannot move their meeting day).

Bills and Communications:

  • We received thank you cards from seminarians: David Miller for the RSVP gift; Robert Lane and Tyler Sparrow for the Amazon gift cards.

Treasurer’s report: Gave report.

Financial Secretary’s report: Gave report.

Director’s reports:

Culture of Life (Breit) -

  • Important dates in January are:
    • 1/13 - Love My Life Youth rally and NC March for Life in Raleigh
    • 1/19 - National March for Life in DC
    • 1/22 - Mass for the Unborn at St. Mark
  • A recipient of Culture of Life funds last year, and planned for this year as well, received national attention.  Amy Wright, founder of Bitty & Beau's Coffee was named the CNN Hero of the Year.

Church (Decker) -

  • Thanks to all the Knights who took part in the Knights Before Christmas Mass, the Christmas parking, baby bottle distribution, etc. Knights were everywhere this year spreading cheers and joy.
  • Reported under Communications were the thank you cards that recently came in from the seminarians for the RSVP and gift cards gifts sent at the end of November.
  • Vespers. Vespers precedes the council meeting on Wednesdays. Running from 5:30-6:30, it’s an easy way to leave the day behind and spend some time with Our Lord in song, prayer, silent reflection, and reconciliation. Unfortunately, only a handful (really) of parishioners bother to partake of this beautiful gift we have.
  • Miguel Saldana reported on the weekly Friday Adoration. The council selected 1-2pm as the desired time for Knights to spend an hour in adoration each Friday. The more Knights the better. If 1-2 isn’t good, come anytime.

Family (S Peters) -

  • Knight of the Month all the knights involved in Knights activities during the Christmas weekend. Special mention goes to Grand Knight Jeff Godshall, Alex Hill and George Schadt.

Council -

  • Texas Hold'Em: The next event will be January 13 in the Parish Hall. The Wine & Cheese Socials may impact the location as their schedule will be fixed in January.
  • Parish Breakfasts - George Schadt reported that the next breakfast will be on January 7 and the sponsor will be the Youth Ministry.  Volunteers to help with cooking/serving are needed.

LAMB (Niggel) -

  • The final LAMB collection put us over our goal for the year. We collected $10,600 this year.
  • We received a request from Ogden Elementary for help with their Special Education classroom. We replaced their failed washer/dryer.

Old Business: None.

New Business:

  • IFF - We have budgeted $1,000 for the event. We hope to have a more visible presence this time than just hamburgs and hot dogs.
  • 1st and 2nd Degrees - Planned for Saturday, January 27.

Report of the Fourth Degree: No report.
