Business Meeting Minutes August 15, 2018 Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Larry Greer called the meeting to order. The Warden reported all had membership card and rosary. The opening prayer was led by brother Deacon Watford and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

The online version of the minutes was inadvertently destroyed. It will be replaced as time permits.

Approval of minutes:

The minutes from the July meeting were posted on the council website. Motion made to approve, seconded and was passed.

Retention/Membership report: No report

Grand Knight report: 

  • Jeff Godshall was presented with a medal for his service as past Grand Night.
  • Parish Breakfast starting Sept. 9th will need volunteers.
  • September 1 concert on the lawn will need volunteers to set up chairs.
  • Volunteer opportunities to stain the fence.
  • Sept 1st must have commitments for the Christmas party at the City Club $25 per person.
  • Talked about a summer event at Inland Greens.

 Treasurer’s report: given by treasurer, Also, Ken Merck said poker night was slow but we made $387 from the event and donated $100 to St. Philomena Fund.

Financial Secretary’s report:.  Financial Secretary gave report. 

Director’s reports:

Church (Decker) – Golf Tournament had a great turnout we brought in $5400!

Life (Breit) - 

  • The Monday Night Football Pool is again underway. The first game is September 10. Booklets are $20 each and give the purchaser 20 chances to win $50; many purchasers have won more than once.  For every10 books sold, you get one free. 20 Booklets left. The proceeds help support our Culture of Life programs.

Faith: Miguel Saldana asked for participation in attending adoration.

Family: Steve Peters announced that Faith Formation will be starting up in a few weeks and is looking for volunteers.

New Business: Budget for the new year was approved.

Report of the Fourth Degree: No Report

District Deputy Report: Talked about upcoming meeting in Raleigh and said raffle tickets have been released.

Insurance Representative: Ray Repage announced he was stepping down and Agent Yakimovich is taking over for him until a new agent is brought on. 

LAMB: Tim Niggel announced we raised over $9000 from the volunteers who collected money at various Hariis Teeter locations and said we should break 10K after Halloween Candy Sale and Christmas sale, and thanked all who participated.

Good of the Order: New program, That Man IS You, Powerful lessons, Starts Sept 8th Saturdays at 6:45 am Two Semesters over 12 weeks.

John Bolger: presented information about helping Veterans.

Prayers were offered for fellow Knights, relatives and friends. In particular the following names were mentioned: William Kershaw is in Hospice Care.
