Prayer Vigil Warriors on Wilmington Catholic Radioprayervigil

Many of the knights that make up the male contingent at the weekly Respect Life Prayer Vigil on Wednesday mornings recently were interviewed by Wilmington Catholic Radio's Carolina Catholic show host Judi Paparozzi about their dedication to the pro-life movement, why men are so important to this work, how the public responds to our prayer vigil in an overwhelming positive way, how they feel blessed to lead the Rosary and other prayers, and why praying to end abortion is so very important.

This show can be listened to on Wilmington Catholic Radio's station, 93.1 FM, the third and fourth weekends of August, Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 6pm. You can also listen to the interview online by clicking here.

Tacos at Saint Mark

Knights on Call

Five knights were on hand on Friday to help assemble furniture for St. Mark Catholic School.

Exemplification on July 28th

In the first exemplification of the fraternal year, we brought in five new knights. In the front row, left to right and flanking Regional District Deputy Gene Ziemba, are Martin Hernandez, Adam Bernhard, Christopher Polermo, Russel Perritt and Ryan Leach. Welcome brothers.

The degree team in the back, left to right, are Chancellor Joe Browning, Program Director Larry Greer, Grand Knight Greg Peters, Deputy Grand Knight Ron White, Trustee Greg Decker, and Warden George Schadt. Not shown is Financial Secretary Cary Newman.

Knight of the Month Bud Tascone

Our Knight of the Month for May 2025 is Salvatore "Bud" Tascone.

Bud is now in his eighth year as Treasurer for the council, admirably fulfilling the duties of this office in a very active council. He also drives the well-received annual Catholic Citizens Essay Contest at the school, and is always willing to contribute to other Community efforts.
Faith is important to Bud. He’s a core member of Cor; a very active Secular Franciscan; involved with the food ministry, Bread for Life; the Stewardship Committee; and many other ways behind the scene.

Bud epitomizes the Gospel ideals to which we are all called, and worthy to be our Knight of the Month.

Leadership Training

The Knights Leadership Training was held on Saturday, July 19, at Saint Mark hosted by our council.  The five men on the kitchen crew put on a fabulous spread, both breakfast and lunch, for the 72 attendees.  Super job, Knights!

Mothers Day Flowers

Red carnations awaited all mothers as they left church after all the Masses on Mothers Day weekend.

Knight of the Month Ray Repage

Our Knight of the Month for March 2025 is Ray Repage.

Ray is extremely active as Community Director for our council and has been a key member of the kitchen staff helping with both Knights Breakfast and Fish Fry events.
Ray also has taken on the key role of Membership Director for 2025. In addition, Ray shares his time and talent helping with the Sharing Tree ministry.

Congratulations to Ray Repage for helping support our community.

Flag Raising at St. Mark Family Picnic

The Fourth Degree Assembly was asked to raise the flag for the opening ceremony of the St. Mark Family Picnic.  It was a breezy day and we needed to lower the flag to half-staff in recognition of Pope Francis' death.  Doing the honors were Past Faithful Navigators Bobby Philips and Greg Decker and current Captain Larry Greer.

Knight of the Month Steve Tabor

Our Knight of the Month for April 2025 is Steve Tabor.

Steve has helped out in nearly all of our projects from Knights Breakfast, Fish Fry, Tree Lot and more. He has the most hours of anyone in Knights on Call. Steve’s very positive attitude with a very upbeat personality is infectious.

He adopted one of our elderly parishioners that he met through our Knights on Call last year; and continues helping them every month.

He is the Best example of a true Knight. Where there's a need there's a Knight—and that's Steve.

Thank-a-Cop

Brother Tim Kroll led a team of men to prepare and deliver a lasagna dinner to the New Hanover County Jail where they fed about sixty guards.

Assisting with the meal preparation were, in addition to Kroll, Ken O'Leary, Jr.; and with delivery and serving John Danchisko, Tim Kroll, Grand Knight Greg Peters, Bob Gabel and Talin Germain.

Knight of the Month Joe D'Alessandro

Our Knight of the Month for February 2025 is Joe D'Alessandro.

Joe is a high energy, thoughtful and active member of our Council. In the Fall, Joe assumed the co-chairmanship of the very successful Knight’s Breakfast, under the mentorship of long time Chair George Schadt. Likewise, he is now leading the three Fish Frys this year. This leadership effort involves planning, organizing and conducting these breakfasts and fish frys resulting in the served community’s appreciation. Joe works tirelessly to make these the success that they are. Joe exemplifies our Order’s principles in any activity he undertakes. We as a council are very grateful to have a brother knight like Joe.
