8 new candidates – 2 of which are Spanish-speaking.

Faith Director Report: GK Newman for Miguel Saldana

        24-hour adoration November 4, please sign up!

        Quarterly Knights Mass November 24 went well.  Next one is December 18.

        Ignatian Retreat prior to Lenten Season Friday, February 17 – Sunday, February 20. Will be held at Cardinal Gibbons Retreat Center. We need 70 – 80 participants but it must be approved by the board of directors.

Family Director Report: Bob Gabel (reported in Good of the Order)

       Cookout planned with the Youth Ministry on November 20 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. We need a handful of brothers to assist.

Community Director Report: Various men reported.

        Coats for Kids - Richard Caparelli for Steve Patterson

Is in full distribution mode with 7 locations for 252 coats.  Volunteers needed for 10/28 (2) and 10/29 (2).

        Pancake Breakfast (now KofC Breakfast) – GK Newman for Steve Patterson

Based on financial results of the October breakfast we will begin charging for breakfast on January 8.  $20/family, $10/adult, $5/child and specify the charitable cause that the breakfast will support.  It will now be known as the Knights of Columbus Breakfast. 

        Columbus Day Pasta Dinner held on Oct 15 – GK Newman for Steve Patterson

        Very successful with 100 paying patrons.

        Many thanks to Ken Oleary and Greg Decker as well as the dozen or so volunteers who made the whole event possible.  Thank you notes have gone out to all involved.

        Basketball Free Throw Competition – Frank Bio for Chairman Danny Malechuk

        Will be held in January, Danny Malechuk is securing dates and announcement with proper authorities.

        Volunteers needed to count made vs. not made baskets.

        Open to 9–13-year-old boys and girls.

       Fall Bocce Tournament Frank Bio

       Single elimination, weather permitting.

       Originally scheduled for October 1 but postponed due to impending Hurricane Ian until one of the following dates: January 14, 21, 28 or April 15; April 15 and January 28 were St Mark’s council’s first and second choice.

       Blankets for the Homeless – Chairman Greg Peters

        Donations amounted to $1,472 which covered the cost of 168 fleece blankets and 200 Mylar emergency blankets and seed money for next year’s program.

        Blanket distribution schedule:
10/12 Salvation Army – 72 fleece blankets, 174 Mylar blankets
10/18 Good Shepherd House – 72 blankets
11/18 Ashley House - 24 fleece blankets and Mylar blankets were stored for Ashley House. John Bolger has advised planned distribution is early December.  Distribution will be coordinatedwith the 4th Degree Assembly.

        Building Brigade:  a team of brother knights (with wrenches) picked up, delivered and assembled six-foot metal picnic tables to Christ the King (our mission parish).  There they were joined by William Westmoreland.  Job well done.

        Christmas Party (December 15) combined with Columbiettes is full with a waiting list. Please pay in full by December 1. See emails for details.

        Polish Festival - St Stanislaus will be having their Polish Festival on November 5.  Volunteers are welcomed to set up on November 4 or assist on November 5.

        Christmas Shoe Box for Vets - John Bolger requested assistance in donations in support of the Christmas shoe boxes containing items easily purchased at a drugstore or dollar store.  The goal is to deliver 20 boxes to needy veterans at the Ashley House.  Items might include:
 2 razors
 A pair of gloves (Jersey gloves would suffice)
 Small toothpaste
 Power stick for skin/hair
 Waterless shampoo
 Shaving cream
 Toothbrushes
 2/3 pair of socks (while/black/brown)

Life Director Report – GK Newman for Michael Breit

        Baby Bottle Campaign is nearing completion.  Per our Life Director, Michael Breit, 48 kids participated to make it a cross generational event and get us connected with some young dads for potential recruiting.  A Knight from California who was visiting made a $50 donation and is taking the concept back to his council in California.

        Life Chain was held on October 2.  Many thanks to the 15 Knights who attended

        Rosary for the Unborn - Please remember that we are always hoping for more Brother Knights to join us every Wednesday morning at 9 am for the Rosary for the Unborn.  Location is at 16th and Hospital across from Starbucks.

Fourth Degree Report: Caleb Strittmatter

        Raffle tickets are being sold by all councils associated with our Assembly with proceeds going to support the Ashley House whose mission is to support veterans on their return into society (some with addiction problems), as well as to other local patriotic programs.

        Regalia Lottery - The Assembly has sponsored a lottery in which 4 Sir Knights have won financial support to purchase full 4th degree uniforms.  3 of the 4 are from our Council.

        Future Saints Scholarship Program – Letters were sent to all Sir Knights that have contributed or otherwise supported the program.

       Veteran Flag Placement at Cemetery - The American Honor Guards of North Carolina has asked for our help in the following flag program. We will meet in the rear of cemetery by the storage building and look for Honor Guard pickup truck decorated with flags (red, white and blue).

Purpose Driven Retirement Strategies will be presented via Zoom meeting Friday, October 28, 7:30 – 8:30 pm. We need 8 men to participate for our council to get credit. See recent email sent by GK Newman for signup details.

District Deputy Report: - Gene Ziemba

        Star Council award is for the last fraternal year.

        We are doing the things that will help for this fraternal year’s award.

        He challenges our brothers to the following: If you are not running a program, consider stepping up.

Unfinished Business (motions carried over from previous meetings):

       Fraternal Year 22-23 Budget Vote was unanimous. Those interested in a copy of the budget, contact Greg Decker. It will not be available on the website.

Good of the Order:

        Family of the Month, September 2022 – The Ash Family; Justin, Johanna, Adam and Autumn for supporting the Liturgy Ministry by serving as ushers for several years

        Knight of the Month, September 2022 – Ron Strecker for his promotion of the Monday Night Football Pool by selling an average of 32 booklets since 2014, and the top seller this year.

        STAR Council award presented to PGK Chris Smith and Program Director Larry Greer by State Advocate J McCarthy, RDD F Reck, DD G Ziemba and State Membership Director P McGrath. Video and photos available. 

New Business:

        Christmas Caroling - Tim Niggel included an update on the resumption of our Christmas Caroling program which was curtailed due to Covid.  At a date to be confirmed in December, we will be gathering as a group, taking a bus for the afternoon, and singing at several retirement and rehabilitation homes in the area.  We will end up at St. Mark after the 5 pm Mass singing to the parishioners as they exit Mass.  Tim will be issuing further details as soon as possible.
