Business Meeting Minutes October 26, 2016 Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Jeff Godshall called the meeting to order and received a report from the Warden that all present were in possession of their membership cards.

The opening prayer was said and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Approval of minutes:

The minutes from the September meeting are posted on the council website.  Motion made to approve was passed.

Admissions committee report: None

Grand Knight report:

Knight’s memorial mass was well attended thanks to all who were there.  Those who came to the Rosary last Sunday were appreciated. 

Steve Shelton’s daughter’s surgery went well.

Poker was well attended and Chris Smith has agreed to be the project manager moving forward.

Thanks to all those who helped with the LAMB’s pasta dinner led by Tim Niggel

Ron Probst will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner at the church again this year.  Any financial assistance would be appreciated.  If you can attend and help that would be appreciated also.

The new 1st & 2nd degree Knights were recognized.  They were charged with heading up the membership committee and helping with the Christmas card sale.

Business meetings will be held on the 3rd Wed. of the month moving forward.

Financial secretary gave his report.  Asking for a volunteer(s) to chair the retention committee.

Director’s reports:

Church (Decker)- St. Mark sign by the road has been power washed and looks much better.  Please pray the national novena for elected officials.  Our chancellor has walked much of “The Way” hike.

Culture of Life (Breit)- please read the letter from Bishop Burbidge in the NCC before casting your vote.

Family (Peters, S.) – George Schadt is the Knight of the Month for heading up the cook team as is Greg Decker for Right to Life and leading the Rosary this month. Planning has started for the International Food Festival on Apr. 22, 2017.  Volunteers are needed as some past committee members are unavailable this year.

Youth (Abbe)- Knights free throw contest would like to be run in January on an afternoon if possible to improve participation.  Thanks to those knights who assisted with set-up, parking, etc. for the Ignited by Truth presentation.

New Business:

George Schadt will be preparing breakfast on Nov. 6 after the 9:30 Mass.  He will be asking for assistance.

Help is requested from the Youth Minister to unload Christmas trees on Nov. 25, the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Santa breakfast & Knights Christmas 9:30 Mass on Dec. 4.

A chili cook-off is planned for January, David Corbett to chair.

Dec.10 Christmas Caroling at retirement centers will be chaired by Tim Niggel

Polish Festival at St. Stanislaus on Nov. 5.  Help needed to set-up 9-10am.  Festival from 11am-5pm.  Free parking and admission.

Council membership goal is 15 new members.  We have recruited 6 as of now.

RSVP program will be making a cash donation to 5 seminarians we have been sponsoring.  A gift card will be presented to 25 others.

Report of the Fourth Degree:

NCAA football booklets are available for sale.

District Deputy report:

Presented the Columbian award for past Grand Knight Ken Dieppa to current Grand Knight.
