Business Meeting Minutes November 21, 2019 Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Larry Greer called the meeting to order. The Warden reported all had membership card and rosary. The opening prayer was led by Warden George Shadt and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Our newest members completing  their 1st degree were recognized: Michael Krawczyk, Anthony Melilli and Bob Shields.  Transfer Kyle Hyduke was also welcomed.

Chaplain report

The Supreme Chaplain’s challenge was read by GK Greer.  We are to do an examination of conscience and go to confession this month.Spoke about Archbishop Lori's challenge to Kneel before the Crucifix each morning, pray the Rosary and increase in humility. 

Approval of minutes:The minutes from the October meeting were posted on the council website. Motion made to approve, seconded and was passed.

Financial Secretary report: Gave his report. We now have 228 members with four yet to hit the books. 

Treasurer report: Gave his report.

Retention/Membership report: no report

Grand Knight report:

  • RSVP if you plan on attending the Columbiettes Christmas dinner on Dec. 6.  Contact Dale Spencer This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  • The Youth Ministry needs help unloading Christmas trees on Nov. 29.  Arrive by 11am.  Chain saw operators are also needed from 11am-1pm and 1pm-4pm that day.
  • Sharing Tree ministry this week-end before and after all Masses.  Sorting and bagging help needed on Sunday at 3pm in the social hall.
  • Those wishing to sing in the Chancel Choir at the 9:30 Mass on Sunday Dec. 8 must come to practice on Dec. 5 at 7pm in the music room.

Director’s reports:

Faith (Saldana) - 

  • Miguel Saldana was not present, but is the contact for those wishing to help with a ministry on the Knights Before Christmas Mass on Dec. 8 at 9:30. 
  • 24hr Adoration is scheduled for Dec. 6 from 8pm-8am.

Life (Breit) –

  • Michael Breit was not present so FS Decker informed the council that we would be passing out Baby Bottles after each Mass on the first week-end of Advent and need help for a few minutes after each Mass. Watch for an email requesting help. 

Family (Peters, S)-

  • Steve Peters reports that the Knight of the Month is Bud Tascone for chairing the Pasta Dinner last month.
  • Steve also reminded us that Santa has committed to being at the Parish Breakfast on Dec. 8.
  • IFF scheduled for April 25, the feast day of St. Mark.

Community (Niggel) -

  • Tim Niggel asked for help for Brook DeAmaral. Special Olympics needs helpers for its swim program. 
  • Tim has also confirmed we will be visiting the area retirement centers on Dec. 14. We will be meeting at St. Mark at 2pm and returning in time to greet those leaving the 5pm Mass.  Cost is $20/person to defer the cost of the bus.  Non-Knights and Columbiettes are welcome. 
  • The last LAMB drive is the week-end of Dec. 7-8 after each Mass. Volunteers are needed.

New Business:  

  • John Bolger asked that we put together boxes for Veterans at the Ashley House.  Personal hygiene items and socks are needed. Dec. 6 is the deadline. 
  • Wreaths Across America is Dec. 14 at 7am at the Wilmington National Cemetery. 
  • Brother Greg Peters suggested we begin planning our annual golf tournament if we want to get a week-end and venue we want.

Report of the Fourth Degree: The planned exemplification for January has been rescheduled to Mar. 21 at St. Mark. We are being asked to host. All 3rd degree knights are encouraged to receive their 4th degree.  We will need a lot of help for this event  

District Deputy Report: 

  • Worthy DD Will gave a report on the audit he conducted with FS Decker and Treasurer Tascone and complimented them on an outstanding job. 
  • He reminded us that the Fraternal Activities Survey form 1728 is due by the end of December.    

Field Agent report: No report, but Marty Yakimovich and Fr. Roger expressed appreciation for all who helped for the 3 days setting up and serving at the Polish Festival.

LAMB: Steve Shelton talked about coaching the Special Olympics athletes. He encouraged all to participate if possible October 22 and 23rd.

Good of the Order: Prayers were asked for Ron Probst’s brother in law, Jeff Werner, Ronnie Girardi, Daniel Agnelli and Greg Peters daughter, Jessica.

Closing of the Meeting:Prayer was led by the Warden. At the close of the meeting, our sister auxiliary joined us for a social with the food provided by Gary Wool. Next business meeting is Dec. 19.
