Business Meeting Minutes December 19, 2018 Knights of Columbus 12017

Grand Knight Larry Greer called the meeting to order. The Warden reported all had membership card and rosary. The opening prayer was led by brother George Schadt and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Approval of minutes:

November minutes were never received from the acting Recorder so not posted to the website for review.  No motion was made.

Retention/Membership report: No report

Grand Knight report:

  • We need to recruit more new members, January initiation coming up. Let’s step it up!
  • Christmas Caroling event went to six assisted living communities to entertain and it was a success.
  • Poker Starts back up in January 12th  set up at 6:30 pm cleanup at 11:30pm, and we need volunteers for set up and breakdown.  
  • January 6, Parish Breakfast after 9:30 Mass. Help needed by 8:30 am for setup and help needed at 10:30 for cleanup.
  • Christmas party at the City Club December 7th was a great event.
  • There will be two 3rd degree ceremonies coming up in Raleigh Feb. 2 and another on Feb 23 in New Bern, check State Knights website for more info.

Treasurer’s report: Update on accounts provided by Treasurer.

Financial Secretary’s report:  SuperBowl Pool (Sorry Steelers Fans) coming up. Consider buying some squares in the pool to raise funds, you could also win some for your own pockets!

Directors' reports:

LIFE:  January 19th Life March for Life in Washington DC/

FAITH (and Good of the Order): Miguel Saldana urged Knights to participate in attending adoration. Critical Need 11-3 on Fridays. Called for all to come to Wednesday evening Vespers starting at 5:30. Statue of Mary is available for people to take home and pray with.

FAMILY:

  • Steve recognized GEORGE SCHADT as the Knight of the month! George was Quoted as saying “We Will Never Run out of Food “ at our events!
  • Please consider helping at the International Food Festival which is a huge event and helps raise a lot of money for a variety of needs.

New Business: 

  • Jay Curley elected as new Recorder.
  • Lenten Fish Fry: March 22 and March 29.
  • Volunteers needed for helping with parking at Christmas Masses. Several volunteers came forward to pledge support to Greg Decker.

Field Agent Report: No Report

Report of the Fourth Degree: No report.

District Deputy Report: Would like to wrap up the raffle have all tickets in by early March.  The raffle tickets will be distributed in early January to be returned by early march. 

LAMB: 

  • Caroling was a great event and well received.
  • Because of hurricane the last fundraising effort came up $1200 under budget, requested all to consider a donation if you were not able to help at donation sites this past year.
  • Feb 23rd is the Polar Plunge at Kure Beach to help raise funds for programs come on out and get wet! Tim may show up in a Bikini!
