Activities and events sponsored by the council in connection with the Service Program should be outlined, planned and recorded at least six months in advance. Monthly meetings should be held by the program director for members of their groups. Advance planning will prove an effective method assuring interesting meetings and successful sponsorship of council projects. Council reports should be made monthly by the various directors to the program director for submission to state officials for state recognition. The program director oversees the council’s programs to assure program completion for state recognition awards.

The Life director keeps the respect for life at all stages from conception through natural death at the forefront of council activities. Knights of Columbus Life programs are the very essence of being a Catholic and a foundation of the Order’s principles. Any well-rounded slate of activities will surely include programs that promote a culture of life and civilization of love. Respect for life allows our councils to stand in solidarity with our bishops, our priests and our Church. The Fr. Waters council will be very active on this front.

Recruiting new members is essential to the continued growth and well-being of your council and the Order. Offering a man membership in the Knights of Columbus gives him the opportunity to improve his own life and his community. Membership allows him to experience the fraternal bond that Knights share while growing closer to his family and faith. The membership director is responsible to the Grand Knight for recruiting and retention.

The Refund Support Vocations Program, better known as RSVP is a Supreme Council program that encourages local councils to support vocations by giving a $100 refund to a local council whenever it donates $500 to a seminarian or postulant. Since 1981, more than $22 million has been contributed under this program to tens of thousands of seminarians, novices and postulants. In addition to the material support provided by RSVP, Knights and their families also provide moral support by "adopting" a seminarian or postulant. They write letters of support, offer prayers and invite their adopted candidate to council-sponsored activities.

For 2022-23, we supported two seminarians: John Lewis and William Breit.  Unfortunately, John Lewis has left the seminary so please pray for him.  William Breit remains at the seminary for the Insitute for the Incarnate Word so please continue to pray for and support him in his journey toward priesthood. This is often not an easy decision and an even more difficult task to complete. William is the son of brother Michael Breit.

William is at:
  Blessed Fulton J. Sheen Seminary
  5706 Sargent Road
  Chillum, MD 20782

The council's website provides the face of the council to the membership and to the community. Its goal is to be a one-stop-shop for everything a brother knight needs to know to be a contributing menber of the council. The homepage is reserved for special messages from the Grand Knight or others so designated. A quick look at a near-term calendar is also provided there. Additional pages are for the current officers, directors and chairmen along with their contact information. Further, each program director has their own section to describe upcoming events or activities. Also included is a photo gallery, council history, complete calendar, and meeting minutes, and links to many relevant resources. The design lends itself to being usable on everything from smartphones to tablets to personal computers.

The communications chairman is responsible for the council's outward-facing communications.  This most frequently is in the form of church bulletin updates on what the knights are doing locally and globally under the banner - Knights Corner.

Operation LAMB is a program of the Knights of Columbus in North Carolina to Assist People with Mental Retardation.

The LAMB Foundation gets its name from an acronym from the biblical quotation: "Whatsoever you do to the Least Among MBrethren, that you do also to me." Matthew 25:40

Helping people help themselves since its inception in 1974, nearly $14 million has been raised with this program in our state. The primary means of support for Operation LAMB is the Tootsie Roll Drive. Each year, the Knights of Columbus, their families and friends stand long hours outside shopping centers. They offer free Tootsie Rolls to all passers by and ask for donations to assist those with Mental Retardation. Their smiling faces and bright yellow aprons have become familiar sights throughout the state.

The LAMB Foundation is an extremely effective and efficient use of your charity dollars.  There are no paid employees.  The foundation is administered by volunteers.  There are no fancy headquarters. We work out of homes, churches and council halls.   Additional donations from individuals and local companies cover the overhead cost of candy and aprons.  All money "raised on the street"  goes directly to programs helping people that are afflicted with the varied forms of mental retardation.  Grants are approved on the local council level and the state level without regard to race, color, religious affiliation.
